The book is bound in an adapted K118 style in full pale grey Pentland leather, tooled in carbon and ink and hand dyed with acrylic inks. The bird detail is a back-pared black leather onlay. There are hand-sewn double silk endbands. The endpapers are suede and the edge-to-edge doublures are red dendritic printed paper by the binder with red leather joints. The book is housed in a bespoke suede-lined wooden box with decorative leather title panel and suede base. The box also contains the additional set of prints which accompanies this edition.

The design of the covers represents the turbulent and stormy seas with the albatross gliding above the waves, whilst the doublures represent the hot and becalmed fate that awaits the ship.
