Riding into the Sunset

Today is a sad day indeed - David’s final day of work with Hewits! 

David joined us nearly 40 years ago, starting in our London Warehouse in Prowse Place. He then became Sales Director in 1992, and ran our London operations at Park Royal until we sadly closed them in 2002. Since then he has manned a solo office, first in High Wickham and then Brackley, but has still very much been a part of the team here, especially when he had to come up for stocktaking!
He will be a familiar face to many of you, as he has spent his career travelling the world representing us at various conferences and events, manning our trade stalls, and giving presentations about leather manufacturing. 

In recognition of his outstanding work promoting and supporting the bookbinding trade, he was awarded the Cobden-Sanderson award at this years’ Society of Bookbinders Conference - an amazing achievement that he is extremely proud and grateful to have received.
If you’re lucky this may not be the last you see of David, as he now has volunteering roles with the Society of Bookbinders, & with Open•Set.

We sadly said goodbye to him today, and he’s now flying back down south. We’ll miss having him on the other end of a Teams call, but we all wish him the best going forward, and that he has a long and happy retirement. 
In memory of the many evenings spent staying in Scotland with Roger, Caroline, and their family, playing cribbage & drinking the occasional whisky, he was today presented with a special ‘Hewits’ decanter commemorating his service with us.

He looks forward to spending more time with his wife Debbie, their dog Ruby, their children, and the rest of the family. He plans on playing more golf, and getting out on his motorbike more often.
