The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein
This is an Early edition of J.R.R Tolkien's classic the Hobbit which has been Rebound in a dark green Pentland with two raised bands on the spine to hold a hand died leather title label. Double gold lines at head and tail as well as either side of the raised bands. The image depicts Smaug, the dragon with the Doors of Durin and mountains behind. The image on the front board is created using paper thin leather onlays backed in a Japanese tissue which have been embossed in black over the top to create a black outline. Certain areas have been hand shaded to create depth to the image. This book also has hand sewn end bands and the original endpapers have been kept, mounted on Japanese tissue and reused on the new binding.
