Our Confectionary recycling point closed on the 24th of November 2023

Our Crisp/Popcorn/Pretzel/Nut recycling point is closing on the 19th of December 2023

Every year countless plastic packets end up in landfill sites across the UK, so that's why we teamed up with TerraCycle to help put an end to it. In December 2021 we joined the KP Snacks recycling scheme, followed up by the Nestle & Pringles programs in the summer of 2022.

Our recycling point had great engagement from the local community, customers, & staff for 2 years. Unfortunately, Nestle removed the funding for their recycling scheme, followed by KP cutting back on its financial contributions. Because of this our confectionary wrapper recycling point closed in November 2023, and our crips packet recycling point is closing in December 2023.

Our Pringles tube collection point is still ongoing for the foreseeable future.

Continuing to recycle your Pringles tubes with us is not only better for the environment, but for every kilogram we send to TerraCycle we receive back a £1 donation for charity, which we have decided to match. The charities our staff have chosen to support through this are 'Drum Riding for the Disabled' and 'MacMillan Cancer Support'.

As of December 2023, we have raised nearly £200 for each of these charities!

If you are wanting to try and live a more sustainable life, then please consider bringing your waste to our collection point. We encourage people to only bring waste to us when they've collected a fair amount, so that the journey is worth it from an environmental perspective, and to only come to us if we are the closest collection point to you. You can check this on the TerraCycle website.

We want our collection point to be as accessible as possible, so have setup bins at our fence that anyone can get to regardless of if we are open or not. We are also working hard to make our building more accessible, which will allow those who use mobility aids to access our reception bins during working hours.

If you're needing a bit of help finding where we are, then visit our contact page.

Our 24 hour collection bins are at the fence near our far gate, located at the What3words address ///reform.grew.tested

Once we have collected enough waste we send it off to TerraCycle who sort, shred, and wash it. This is then densified into plastic granules that can be incorporated into the production of different plastic products, ensuring that the plastic is reused instead of going to landfill. You can learn more about this on their website.

If you've seen the recent BBC Panorama documentary regarding TerraCycle and want to know our thoughts on it, we have posted our response here.
