Bound by Karen McGuire using Pentland Goat

Shakespeare's Sonnets

Shakespeares Sonnets is bound in Hewits Pentland Goat, with leather onlays. Hand tooled on the spine and boards using 23.5 carat gold leaf. Karen has been learning the fine art of bookbinding and gold finishing from her father Roger Perry. Roger was taught gold finishing at Bayntuns of Bath in the 1960's, and is now passing his knowledge on to his daughter. Karen is hoping to keep the trade alive and make sure the traditional methods of tooling are not lost.
