Our Repair Calf leather is sourced from the Indian subcontinent and initially tanned at origin. Once the skins arrive at our Edinburgh tannery, they are re-tanned using a blend of premium tannages, including Tara, Chestnut, and Oak. Alongside enhancing the leather with these traditional tannages, we also apply our proprietary Archival tannage, resulting in a leather that is exceptionally durable while remaining a pleasure to work with and use.
More information on the development of our Archival Tannage may be found here.
You can see examples of books bound in our Archival BV Repair Calf in the 'Showcase' area of our web site.

Hewitt always treat me with respect and go to extra trouble to meet my needs. Always a pleasure to buy from them. The BV is not there absolute top grade but it is still pretty good.
