James K Higginson I spent a long time searching and trying different kinds of materials for recessed cord and raised cord bindings. Bernard Middleton (Restoration of Leather Bindings, pg 52) recommended flax seaming twine, so I was very pleased that Hewit sells it. It is a good, tightly-wound cord that does not fray easily (unlike some other materials I tried).
